How Mahama Fared in Tax Reforms, Job Creation and Industrial Growth in his 120 Days – IERPP

President Mahama has scored 80% in his promise to form the leanest government in Ghana’s history, according to an assessment by the Institute of Economic Research and Public Policy.

At its media event to discuss the report of the assessment done by the think tank into President Mahama’s 120 days promise, Dr. George Domfe, a Fellow at the Institute, stated that the government has scored 80% in the lean government promise.

“Though there are many equally important people appointed into other sectors, President Mahama has lived up to his forming the leanest government in Ghana’s history. Less ministers have been appointed and so we must commend him” he said.

On the 24-hour economy, Dr. Domfe said that the institute discovered that not much has been achieved in that regard and urged the government to take drastic steps to bring the 20-hour economy into being. He gave the government 40% in that department.

On the promise to lift the ban on salvaged vehicles, this is what Dr. Domfe said: “The promise to lift the ban on salvaged cars is yet to be implemented. It is still at a consultation stage, so we score him 15%”

In all, 9 promises were made on the economy and has not performed badly within his 120 days, according to Dr. George Domfe.
