How Joselyn Dumas Was Scammed And Her Account Emptied

Actress Joselyn Dumas has shared how she allegedly fell victim to a mobile money scam that wiped out her account.

In a video posted on her social media pages on March 17, 2026, she recounted how the incident unfolded, explaining that she lost a substantial amount of money from her MTN Ghana mobile money wallet.

According to her, the situation began when she contacted someone she believed was a DStv Ghana representative to upgrade her subscription.

She said the individual appeared polite and convincing during the conversation and later sent her a link, asking her to enter her decoder details and PIN.

Joselyn explained that she became slightly suspicious at one point, but the person reassured her, claiming there were technical issues on their end and that they needed to complete the process from their side.

She added that the person sent another link and pressured her with a very short timeframe to enter her mobile money code, guiding her through additional steps.

She said shortly after, her account was emptied.

Beyond that, she said the fraudster used her PIN and phone number to access her mobile money app, where they enrolled her in a service known as XtraCash, which provides short-term loans, and proceeded to take a loan in her name and withdrew the funds as well.

She further disclosed that after she managed to regain access to her account and deposited money into it, funds were deducted by MTN Ghana to settle the loan that had been taken without her consent.

“As soon as I said to him that was my number, I felt a vibration on my phone. All my money was emptied. In the process of talking to me as well, because he had my PIN and my number, he was able to get into my MoMo app, and he signed me up for something called XtraPay. I deposited money to send to somebody, and that money was also used to pay the loan,” she narrated.

She used the experience as a warning to the public, urging people to be cautious, never disclose their mobile money PINs, and be alert to suspicious requests.

Joselyn also appealed to DStv Ghana to address the issue, stressing the need for stronger safeguards to prevent others from falling prey to similar scams.
