How Can Your ‘Ataya’ Agents Complete Collation Of Results Before 1:00am? Chairman Wontumi Questions Mahama

The Ashanti regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako has responded to a claim by former President John Dramani Mahama that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will complete the collation of the Presidential election results by 1:00am on December 8, 2024.

Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi challenged Mr. Mahama’s claims by stating that the only training he has promised to give to NDC polling agents is to teach them how to drink ‘ataya’ and not collating of results.

“John Mahama has said he will give his polling agents ‘ataya’ to drink on the day of voting. It is on record he has said it and he wants to turn around and say they will produce the results before 1:00am. This is very dangerous because his agents who would be intoxicated by ‘ataya’ would produce fake results and it must be checked”, Chairman Wontumi said.

It would be recalled that Mr. Mahama has promised to give his party agents ‘Ataya’ to keep them awake and alert during the 2024 elections.

However Mr, John Mahama is now bragging that the NDC will be put in place real time collation of the results from across the country which the party envisage to know the final results by the midnight after voting.

He said constituency executives and polling agents will be trained together for effective collaboration and supervision of the election.

“After the election we will start training of party agents which the constituency executives will be part of the training because you will supervise the party agents. I want to ensure that on 7th December 2024 by 1:00am the party completes collation of its results for Victory,” Mr. Mahama said when addressing delegates from Okere, Akuapem North, and Akuapem South constituencies at Akropong to begin his three-day campaign tour of the region ahead of the party’s Presidential election bin May this year.
