How Abedi Pele Stopped Nania FC Training To Make Way For Asante Kotoko

Legendary African footballer Abedi Ayew Pele has been hailed by Kumasi Asante Kotoko for a gesture he made to the club on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

According to Seth Nii Darko, a member of the communications team of Asante Kotoko, Abedi Pele made an incredible gesture to the team at Mensah Sarbah Park on the University of Ghana campus.

Nii Darko stated that upon their arrival at the park, Abedi Pele instructed the coaches of Nania FC to quickly wrap up their training and make the pitch available to Asante Kotoko.

The Kotoko official said they were astounded and impressed by the gesture, as Nania FC had not finished their training session.

“We arrived in Accra on Monday but decided to train on Tuesday at Mensah Sarbah Park. Everything is going well, and we are set for the game.

“I doff my hat to the legendary Abedi Pele. When we got there, his team, Nania FC, was training, but as soon as he saw the Asante Kotoko entourage, he directed his coach to stop training immediately and make the pitch available to the best club in Ghana, which is Asante Kotoko. The players and coaches indeed left the pitch and allowed us to train,” he said.

Nii Darko also commended Abedi Pele for making time to engage with the players and officials of Asante Kotoko during the meeting.

He stated that the gesture would improve morale and give the players the needed confidence as they head into their game against Legon Cities.

“He spoke with the management members present and took photos with them. He watched our training for a few minutes before leaving for home. We were thrilled with his presence because having such a figure talk to our players before a major game against Legon Cities was a huge confidence booster,” he said.

Asante Kotoko will face Legon Cities in an outstanding game of the 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League.

The game follows their 1-1 draw with Basake Holy Stars on Sunday, October 27, 2024.
