The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has responded with excitement to a post by Mr. Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko which details how loyal the former has been to President Akufo-Addo.
Mr. Otchere-Darko reposted on his Facebook timeline a picture of Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi in a meeting with then candidate Akufo-Addo in London.
The post which was earlier made on 15th February, 2014 depicts how loyal Chairman Wontumi has stayed in the camp of President Akufo-Addo.
Reacting to the post shortly after spotting it, Chairman Wontumi put out a message which read: “I have been loyal to President Nana Akufo-Addo since I won and became a Regional Chairman. Loyalty and honesty is not for cheap people. Thank you Gabby”.
Under the leadership of Chairman Wontumi, candidate Akufo-Addo polled 1,646,949 votes representing 76.27% of the total votes cast in Ashanti region to win the presidential election in 2016.
Then in 2020, Chairman Wontumi led the NPP to poll 1,793,773 representing 71.64% of total votes cast in Ashanti region to help President Akufo-Addo maintain power.
