Hon. Sam George Should Stop Inciting Muslims Join The Efforts To Foster Religious Tolerance

Nana Akomea Asks: "Is Bawumia The Disgrace To The North?"

Just saw a clip of Hon. Sam George, NDC MP for Ningo Prampram, berating Dr. Bawumia for not being a “proper Moslem”, and a “religious prostitute”.

According to Sam George, the basis of his assertions include: He has not heard Dr. Bawumia speak up on some issue about hijabs and fasting; and also on an issue of a Muslim youth killed in Kumasi (as if the death he is referring to was due to the person’s religion); Bawumia has been prayed for by a Catholic Priest or Pastor, etc

Sam George even asserted, without any basis, that Dr. Bawumia has accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour.
These effusions by Sam George are so sad. So if the Chief Imam or any Moslem leader (and Dr. Bawumia is not a Moslem leader) does not comment publicly on an issue involving Moslems, then the Chief Imam or the religious leader cannot be described as a true Moslem!

Indeed in 2019, the National Chief Imam as part of his 100th birthday celebrations, worshipped at Christ the King Catholic Church, in Accra, where the Parish Priest, Reverend Father Andrew Campbell laid hands on him and prayed for him.

By Sam George’s assertions, the Chief Imam cannot be a proper Moslem then, or at best, a Moslem by day and Christian by night.

Indeed, both the Holy Quran and the Holy Bible teach tolerance and admonish us to live in harmony with each other.
What makes one a faithful believer is belief and adherence to the tenants of the faith, and not commentary on issues.
All of us accept invitations to worship in Churches and Mosques, same as Dr. Bawumia, same as the Chief Imam.

This open attitude has fostered religious tolerance, respect, and goodwill among Christians and Moslems.

Now all these actions of goodwill have been described by Sam George as “religious prostitution”.

The sole purpose of Sam George is to incite Moslems against Bawumia and promote religious intolerance in this country
It is a sad effort that will not yield any result for Sam George. Ghanaians need to commend national and religious leaders like Dr. Bawumia and the Chief Imam for their sterling efforts to deepen religious harmony in Ghana.
