Homeless And Pregnant: Ghanaian Student In Canada Begs For Shelter

An unidentified Ghanaian woman who is eight months pregnant has been stranded on the streets of Toronto, Canada after being evicted from the home of some Ghanaian church members she was staying with.

The young woman who went to Candada to further her education is reportedly in a dire situation and is contemplating taking her life due to the hopelessness she faces, with no shelter or support as her delivery date nears.

This information was shared in a recent post on the social media app X by a user named Edhub.

He stated,” A Ghanaian woman who travelled to Canada for studies is now eight (8) months pregnant and homeless on the streets of Toronto, seeking help from fellow Ghanaians.

He added, “According to Maame Pokuah, a Ghanaian resident of Toronto who shared the story, the woman was staying with some church members when she became pregnant and hid it for months. However, when the church members eventually discovered the pregnancy, they evicted her, leaving her homeless and stranded on the streets.”

The woman has since been contemplating suicide due to the extreme hardship of living on the streets while pregnant and nearing delivery.

The pregnant woman has appealed to Ghanaians, particularly those in Canada, to come to her aid.

“She is now seeking temporary accommodation from Ghanaians, especially those in Canada, so that she can safely deliver and return to Ghana afterward”, the post read.
