Hearts of Oak legend, Mohammed Polo has expressed doubts about the suitability of head coach Aboubakar Ouattara for the upcoming 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League season.
Ouattara was named as the substantive head coach for the Phobian Club midway through last season, replacing Martin Koopman on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
However, the Ivorian gaffer endured a torrid campaign but steered the side to a crucial 3-2 victory against Bechem United on the final day, which secured their Premier League status.
But in an interview with Oyerepa FM, Polo questioned Ouattara’s performance, highlighting that the coach nearly led the team to relegation.
Polo criticized the club’s decision to retain Ouattara, asserting that he lacks the qualities needed to manage Hearts of Oak effectively.
“I don’t understand why Hearts of Oak is still keeping Aboubakar Outarra as head coach,” the former Ghana international said. Someone who nearly sent the team to relegation. I don’t think he has anything good to offer Hearts of Oak,” he added.
Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak has announced they will relocate their pre-season camp to Asutsuare.
They will kick off the new season with a home match against debutant side Basake Holy Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium.
