Former Black Stars midfielder Michael Essien has lauded Nico Williams following his magnificent performance in the 2024 Euro final.
Essien was left in awe of the qualities the Spanish-born Ghanaian displayed in the final on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany.
Speaking after the final, Essien described Williams’ performance as ‘amazing.’
“He was amazing, amazing. I mean, as a young player, turning up in this big game, scoring for your country, what more can I say? He has been fantastic,” he told Sporty TV.
Nico Williams played a crucial role in Spain’s triumph, scoring in the 2-1 final win and earning the man-of-the-match award, his second of the tournament.
He ended the tournament with two goals and two man-of-the-match awards.
