The Kwabre East Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Nana Osei Assibey Bonsu has underscored the need for the involvement of the youth in political activities.

This, he noted, will not only encourage them but whip up their interest in national issues from the basic fundamentals and they will never depart from it.

“You see, politics is not only for the elderly but the involvement of the young ones who are the future leaders of this country. If we start early with them, they grow with it and become experience in it”.

Hon Nana Osei Assibey Bonsu was speaking at the National Youth Authority (NYA) inauguration of the Kwabre East Municipal Youth Federation and Parliament at Mamponteng in the Kwabre East Municipal of the Ashanti Region.

The inauguration was preceded with a parliamentary session of the Majority and Minority debating on the use of mobile phones by students.

The MCE was convinced that the session shall breed future parliamentarians since the students demonstrated heated debate at the sitting.

He urged parents not to discourage their wards from getting involved in early politics adding that it will also broaden their knowledge in issues of national interest.

In a welcoming address, the Ag Director for the Kwabre East Municipal NYA, Yussif Kwabena Badawe advised the youth to eschew negative tendencies since it will jeopardize their future.

He urged them to avoid bad friends because they have no aim to saying such friendship will lead them to a regrettable future.

Speaking succinctly on the NYA,  he said it exists to provide relevant and conducive environment that defines and supports the implementation of effective frontline youth empowerment practices, focusing on young people’s participation in socio-economic and political development whist facilitating private and third sector provider investments in youth empowerment.

Chairman for the programme, Hon George Oppong admonished the youth to be serious with their studies adding that it is the only way to catapult them to the apex in life.

“Stick to your books and never play with your studies. When you learn hard you will all become netter persons in future”, he stressed.
