The government is determined to make sure the Black Stars are well-prepared for the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be staged in Qatar, according to Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.
Ghana will be making a return to the global showpiece later this year after advancing past Nigeria in the playoff round. An appearance in Qatar will also see the Black Stars play in the World Cup again after missing out on the 2018 edition in Russia.
The finance minister emphasised the government’s desire to support the Black Stars before the World Cup while also calling on Ghanaians to show unflinching support to the national team. He made the remarks during the 2022 mid-year budget review on Monday, July 25.
“The Black Stars will represent our nation at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in November 2022. Government will ensure that adequate preparation is made to facilitate outstanding performance at the tournament,” said.
“We encourage Ghanaians to continue to remember them in prayer and offer our support.”
The Black Stars have been drawn in Group H, where they will come up against Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.
