Government Officials Exempt from Dumsor Levy, That’s Why They Quickly Passed It – Fokuo”

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team, Fokuo, has explained that the rationale behind the swift passage of the Dumsor levy is that government officials, who often benefit from fuel coupons, may not fully understand the financial struggles of ordinary Ghanaians in accessing fuel.

Speaking on Wontumi TV, Fokuo argued that the E-Levy was more inclusive, as it applied to everyone making transactions.

“The E-Levy was rational because it applied to everyone, but this Dumsor levy seems to target ordinary Ghanaians,” he said.

“Why implement a tax that those in government won’t pay? It’s unfair to expect ordinary citizens to bear the burden while those in power are exempt.”
