Government Announces Reintroduction Of Road Tolls

The Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced plans to reintroduce road and bridge tolls to generate revenue for road maintenance and related projects.

In a press release signed by the Head of the Public Relations Unit, Nasir Ahmad Yartey, on February 6, 2025, the Ministry stated that it is working on modalities for a modern, technology-driven toll collection system.

The initiative aims to ensure efficiency while addressing funding challenges in road maintenance.

To achieve this, the Ministry pledged to adopt an open, transparent, competitive, cost-effective, and fair procurement process.

The statement assured the public of the government’s commitment to implementing a modern tolling system to enhance road infrastructure development.
