A lecturer, Dr. Ishaq, has revealed that Ghanaian women require a Women’s Development Fund, rather than a bank, to support their economic empowerment.
In an interview with Oheneba Nana Asiedu on Wontumi’s morning show, Dr. Ishaq emphasized that the development fund is essential for assisting Ghanaian women, particularly market vendors.
According to Dr. Ishaq, a bank would not be suitable for Ghanaian women due to the stringent banking regulations, which could cause more harm than good. Instead, he advocated for the Women’s Development Fund, which is specifically designed for women’s projects.
Furthermore, Dr. Ishaq suggested establishing a Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) bank that would cater to both men and women. “An SME bank would greatly benefit the country, as over 92% of registered businesses belong to Ghanaians,” he noted.
