Adwoa Safo has revealed that the number of votes that were cast to remove Prof. Mike Ocquaye from Parliament as Speaker, were so embarrassing that she cannot mention it to the public.
“If ballots had been counted on that day, Ghana would have turned upside down”, she chimed.
The former Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya Constituency and former deputy majority leader stated that she was privy to the number of votes that were cast to remove Prof. Mike Ocquaye from his seat.
“They were not two or one, those who voted against him were more than that number”, she said.
According to her, those who eventually voted Prof Mike Ocquaye out were “always coming to us to tell us Nana to replace him”.
Prior to the election to elect the Speaker of Parliament, she revealed that the leadership on the side of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) understood the signals their members were showing about their candidate.
“We knew their intentions and they did exactly what they wanted to do”, she added.
The former legislator explained that “the people who voted NO were not one or two. We had a national security minister. Why do you think that Hon Carlos was gingered to go and destroy the ballots? Do you think there is something wrong with him?”
