The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has announced a major milestone in the country’s mining sector, revealing that Ghana has taken over as the leading producer of gold in Africa and 6th in the world.
Speaking at the launch of the NPP Manifesto in Takoradi, Minister Jinapor attributed this achievement to the government’s innovative policies and hard work, which have sanitized the sector and attracted new investors.
According to Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor, gold exports have soared, crossing $5 million in the first half of this year alone.
The revamped Bibiani and Obuasi Mines, previously dormant, have been revived and are now contributing significantly to the sector’s growth.
The construction of three new gold mines is underway, which will further solidify Ghana’s position as the leading gold producer in Africa.
“This expansion will not only increase gold production but also create new job opportunities and stimulate local economic growth”, he said
“The sanitization of the sector has already created scores of jobs and more high-paying opportunities, benefiting local communities and contributing to the country’s economic growth” he added.
The impact of these initiatives is evident in the staggering 6000% increment in gold exports from the mining sector.
Minister Jinapor attributes this success to the government’s commitment to responsible governance.
As Ghana celebrates this milestone, the mining sector is poised for continued growth and expansion, driven by the government’s vision and commitment to responsible governance.
