Ghana No Longer Safe For Business Under Mahama; Companies Want To Relocate- Chairman Wontumi
Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Wontumi, has expressed concern that Ghana is sitting on a ticking time bomb due to the current political climate.
Speaking with Oheneba Nana Asiedu on Wontumi TV, he alleged that Ghana is no longer safe for businesses, with some companies considering relocation due to the current political climate.
Wontumi criticized President Mahama’s decision to remove the Chief Justice, questioning the President’s authority to interfere with the judiciary, an independent arm of government.
He emphasized that previous administrations respected the independence of the judiciary, citing former President Kufuor’s decision to work with Chief Justice Georgina Wood without attempting to remove her.
“Every Ghanaian is scared,” Wontumi warned.
“Companies are considering relocating because Ghana is no longer seen as a safe haven. Political witch-hunting is another factor driving this uncertainty.”
He concluded by cautioning President Mahama against overstepping his authority, emphasizing that having power doesn’t mean he can override others.
