Ghana Is Better Than UK And America At The Moment- Chairman Wontumi

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Bernard Antwi Boasiako is of the view that there is more happiness and peace of mind in Ghana today than in many developed countries across the world.

Speaking in an interview  Asempa FM monitored by wontumionline.com, ahead of his party’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi, Chairman Wontumi taunted what he believes to be a superior record of the Akufo-Addo led NPP government compared to the previous NDC government.

“Today, there is restrictions everywhere you go. But here in Ghana, everyone is walking freely due proper management [of the covid-19 pandemic] by this government. Up to date, over 800,000 people have died in the US from covid-19. The situation is the same in Brazil, UK, Spain, Italy and Germany.

He further stressed that the recent protests about high cost of fuel is not peculiar to Ghana alone. He pointed out that developed countries like the USA have not been spared from reported fuel shortages and its attendant consequences on the people.

“I have never heard of fuel shortages in UK before. But there have been reports of fuel shortages in UK. Even in America, they are protesting over fuel shortages. Ghana is better than America and UK at the moment”.

He added that the NPP government has justified the confidence reposed in them by the Ashanti region. This is because, the government has implemented litany of critical development projects in the region including roads, hospitals and the upgrading of the Kumasi Airport into international airport.

Touching on the recent controversies emerging from the introduction of the Electronic Levy, Mr Antwi Boasiako said the president is determined to develop the country but this cannot happen unless the government is able to raise money through taxation.

“Development cannot rain from heaven to Ghana unless we use common sense and hard work”, Chairman Wontumi told Osei Bonsu, the host.
