Ghana Football Is In A Mess – GHALCA Boss

Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Chairman, Kudjoe Fianoo, has expressed concerns over the state of football in the country, describing it as being in a mess amid the current struggles.

Fianoo’s comments come in the wake of the Black Stars’ disappointing performances in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The team has struggled, losing to Angola and settling for a goalless draw against Niger. Their difficulties continued with a winless doubleheader against Sudan, leaving their chances of qualifying for the tournament in Morocco next year in jeopardy.

In their first match against Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium, Ghana was held to a goalless draw, and they were defeated 2-0 in the return leg at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.

Reflecting on the team’s struggles, Fianoo, a seasoned football administrator and former CEO of AshantiGold SC, did not mince words.

“Ghana football, in its entirety, is in a mess. We haven’t seen anything yet. If the FA continues with this family and friends system, this is what we will get” he said in an interview on Akoma FM.

“These individuals [Executive Council] came solely to benefit themselves, not to improve our game. Things can only change if we all stop ‘the yes sir, master thing’ and speak truth to authority.” he added.

Currently, Ghana sits third in Group F with just two points. The team will need to secure victories in their final two matches against Niger and Angola next month.

Additionally, the Black Stars’ qualification hopes hinge on Sudan losing their remaining two games against Niger and Angola.
