Ghana started the game on a good note, determined to land the opening goal to deter the Zimbabweans from causing any havoc.

Out of nowhere, Ajax FC midfielder Kudus Mohammed opened the deadlock for the Ghanaians in the fifth minute from a sumptuous effort with an assist from striker Jordan Ayew.

Ghana bossed the first half of the game despite the Zimbabweans creating some decent chances but failed to make good use of them.

The two teams returned from the tunnel with Zimbabwe making incursions, pressuring the Ghanaian defenders for the equalizer until Alexander Djiku fouled an opponent attacker in the penalty box, given the Zimbabweans a penalty of which Knowledge Mosounda converted it beautifully for the parity.

Coach Milovan Rajevac made a tactical change by substituting Jordan Ayew for Benjamin Tetteh to bring fresh energy to Ghana’s attack.

In the 65th minute, Arsenal FC midfield dynamo, Thomas Partey restored the lead for Ghana from an outstanding effort, dribbling the ball behind two defenders of the opposition team.

Ghana continued dominating the game and detecting the pace until captain Andre Ayew headed home the final goal in the 87th minute to give Ghana a 3:1 victory at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

The victory means Ghana now sit second on the group table with six points, just a point separating them and leaders South Africa.
