A member of the New Patriotic Party’s communication team, Ralph Osei-Wusu, has rubbished attempts by the National Democratic Congress to challenge the Electoral Commission of Ghana’s plan to legitimize the use of the Ghana card as the only form of identification for the 2024 elections.
According to Mr. Osei-Wusu, the NDC is against the move because they know they can no longer import foreigners to register as voters in the Volta region.
Speaking on the Wontumi Morning Show, the NPP man stated that the posture of the NDC and their stance on the Ghana card debate shows that they don’t like innovation.
He explained that as Ghanaians, we were always quick to compare our country to advanced countries but accused NDC members of acting indifferently when moves are made to get us to the advanced level.
“When going in for your passport, one document you are required to take along is your birth certificate but when you want to travel outside the country, you can’t use your birth certificate if you have misplaced your passport”, he said to shoot down arguments by the NDC that birth certificate should be accepted as a form of legal document in place of the Ghana card during voting.
