George Afriyie Ready To Offer Support To Ghana FA To End 40-Year AFCON Trophy Drought

Former Ghana Football Association vice-president George Afriyie says he’s willing to put his expertise at the disposal of his country to end a 40-year wait for an African crown and secure qualification to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The former Black Stars management committee member says he is ready to offer his support to the current administration to ensure the qualification of the four-time African Champions.

Ghana has secured passage to the final playoffs after a controversial melodrama against South Africa.

“Yes we can and we are on course to qualify. I support the FA in all aspects that they must do to ensure qualification for the Black Stars and I’m ever ready to support them to achieve the goal by winning the AFCON so we can end the forty year drought.” he told Kumasi-based Akoma FM.

The Black Stars last won the Africa Cup of Nations title back in 1982 in Libya and has still remained elusive since.

The team will know its opponents for the final Africa World Cup play-offs in January after beating South Africa to secure passage to the final lap.
