Galamsey Miners Feared Dead After Mine Collapse At Gbane
A number of galamsey miners are feared dead after their mining pit collapsed on them, on Monday, at Gbane in the Talensi district of the Upper East region.
The miners are said to have to been mining in the night when the disaster struck.
A rescue team sent to the site have been draining water in the pit to ascertain the number of bodies trapped in it if any.
Talensi DCE Dr. Christopher Boatbil, in an interview with JoyNews, said most of the water in the pit has now been drained but would not confirm whether or not, there are bodies.
He stated the rescue team will update him by morning, Wednesday.
