Focus on Governance and Leave Me Alone – Chairman Wontumi Fires at Mahama
Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has slammed President John Dramani Mahama, accusing him and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of deliberately targeting his businesses.
Chairman Wontumi claimed that attempts by the NDC government to close his businesses and intimidate him will not deter him or alter the reason Ghanaians voted for the NDC. He recalled that a similar pattern of harassment occurred in the lead-up to the 2016 elections, during which over 500 excavators and numerous properties were allegedly destroyed under the Mahama administration in a bid to frustrate him.
Speaking on Wontumi TV/Radio, Chairman Wontumi reaffirmed his intention to contest for the National Chairmanship of the NPP, stating that the NDC is aware his victory would pose a significant threat to their chances in the 2028 elections.
He also called on the NPP General Secretary to document all the failed promises made by Mr. Mahama, citing the controversial recent pardon of Sammy Gyamfi, CEO, Goldbod who was captured on video handing over dollars to Agradaa, yet was pardoned.
Chairman Wontumi assured party members that the NPP would continue to hold the current government accountable, expressing confidence that the party will make a strong comeback in the 2028 elections.
He stressed the need for the NPP to elect a leader who can match the NDC “boot for boot” and will not compromise or negotiate with the rulling gorvenment.
According to him, the party requires a bold personality who can stand toe-to-toe with the NDC and defend the NPP’s interests with unwavering commitment.
Highlighting his contributions, Wontumi mentioned his nationwide TV and radio stations dedicated to supporting the NPP and reaffirmed his commitment to doing more for the party when elected as National Chairman.
