“Focus on Development” — KNUST Lecturer Criticizes Ashanti Minister

A senior lecturer at Kumasi Technical University, Dr. Solomon Fokuo has criticized the Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, over what he describes as poor performance and misplaced priorities.

Speaking on the Wontumi Morning Show hosted by Kweku Kyeremanteng Nkansah, Mr. Fokuo argued that the minister has failed to focus on the core responsibilities of his office, choosing instead to engage in activities that do not address the region’s pressing developmental needs.

He specifically questioned the minister’s participation in wall painting during the Easter festivities, stating, “Such activities should not be presented as major projects when more urgent issues remain unresolved in the Ashanti Region.”

Mr. Fokuo also criticized alleged social media comments made by the minister against members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing them as inappropriate and unbefitting of a public official.

According to him, “A regional minister is expected to serve the entire region and maintain decorum in public discourse rather than engage in partisan exchanges.”

He further remarked, “Members of the NPP should not be overly concerned, as the minister’s conduct reflects a lack of seriousness in office.”

He added, “I want to make it clear to Dr. Amoakohene that describing the NPP as lacking sense is, in itself, unfortunate and inappropriate.”
