Five youth from Wassa Japa in the Wassa Amenfi District of the Western Region have been fined one sheep each as a penalty for insulting the chief of the community using the Tik Tok social media platform. All the accused persons except one are on the run.
Their trouble started when they used some unprintable words against the Chief Nana Ata Baah III who described prostitution as shameful and abominable act that could not be continued to allow to flourish on his land and banished those in the sex trade.
The chief later closed down the brothels being used by the prostitutes to ply their trade.
The youth who stood accused are Kwabena Gyan, Fobri, Nana Oduro also known as Ab3 and Kwaku Mensah.
Nana Atta Baah III who doubles as the Adontenhene of Wassa Amenfi said he imposed the sanction to serve as a deterrent for other miscreants who might have an intention of resorting to a similar act by speaking evil about his good intentions.
At the gathering where the chiefs assembled the community to perform the rituals to pacify of the gods last Friday, he carried the sheep at the back of his neck to walk some distance within the township before it was finally slaughtered to perform the purification rites .. Kwabena Gyan who was at the trial showed signs of total remorse and nearly wept at the palace.
He was accordingly pardoned by the chief and he was asked to render an unqualified apology via the same medium he and his colleagues used to denigrate the chief.
Nana Atta Baah used the occasion to issue a strong warning that that his outfit will make sure that prostitution and all other social vices being perpetrated by a section of the youth will not be tolerated by the stool.
