Farmers’ Day 2021: Desist From Illegal Fishing On Lake Bosomtwe- DCE Advises

The Bosomtwe Chief Executive Officer, Hon. Lawyer Joseph Assuming has issued a stern warning to fishermen who use chemicals to fish on the Lake Bosomtwe to spurn the act.

Hon. Lawyer Assuming was emphatic that people of the surrounding communities around the lake should stop the laundry and washing of utensils into the Lake.

Speaking at the 37th Farmers’ Day edition at Amakom in the Bosomtwe Constituency, he urged the Chiefs not to sell all the lands and rather allocate some for farming.

Hon. Lawyer Joseph Assuming appealed to the constituents especially the youth to participate in communal labour.

He, however, commended the farmers for the hard work.

Meanwhile, the overall best winner of the 37th Farmers’ Day in the Constituency, Pastor S. K Tawiah told Nana Owusu Achiaw that the sentiment is massive for him to emerge as the best farmer.

He was honoured with a tricycle, sprayer, Wayland boot, cutlass and 32-inch laser TV among others.

According to him, due to his hard work, he was optimistic about the victory.

Pastor S.K Tawiah compelled his colleagues to put aside the award and work hard adding their focus should centre on the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ) initiative.

According to him, the challenges of the farmers in the area is the high cost of weedicides and lands for farming.

He, therefore, appealed to the government to die down the price of weedicides.
