Expect Massive Development Despite Numerous Economic Reforms Made Before And After The IMF Bailout – NPP Secretary

The NPP government before reaching a consensus between the IMF and the government of Ghana underwent a series of financial sector reforms to seal the agreement for the trenches release of the 3 billion dollars in financial support to drive the fortunes of the country’s economy to a buoyant one.

The finance minister in a press briefing on Sunday indicated the pending suffering to be encountered by the citizenry despite the monetary support from the IMF and urged Ghanaians to embrace all other reforms to suit the demands of the IMF.

Speaking to Evans Manasseh, the Ahafo regional secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Antwi Eric indicated the government’s commitment towards the enhancement of development in the country despite the IMF bailout and its bounded reforms.

He said there are a lot of developmental projects underway, Mentioning the construction of roads and bridges, construction of school buildings, employment of workers, and payment of workers’ salaries stressing that the 600million initial trench of the bailout alone cannot be used for all the developmental policies laid down hence the need to support the government in other reforms for the release of the subsequent trenches of the monies.

He emphasized that the financial bailout was successful as a result of all the reforms that went on ahead of the release of the first 600million dollars trench out of the 3 billion dollars in financial support from the IMF hence the government is committed to ensuring that the needed improvement and growth of the country is achieved by laying down sequences of developmental events to promote growth in the country.

He added that though the economic reforms made before the IMF support and the subsequent ones may negatively affect us, there is a need to embrace them to win the trust of the IMF to release the rest of the 3 billion dollars in support to ensure the progress of the country’s development.

Nana Antwi Eric finally challenged NDC compatriots to voice out a unique policy implemented or yet to be introduced in the country that must propel Ghanaians to Vote them into power come 2024, stressing that NDC has nothing new to offer Ghanaians and so they must cease their continuous criticism and allow the NPP to continue their good governance for the people of Ghana.
