The National Nasara coordinator for the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Abdul Aziz Haruna Futa, has said that the NPP is the only party that has brought much development in the zongo communities than any government since the era of Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah.
According to him, this reflected in the 2020 elections. Speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show, Mr. Futa said that “you can check the 2016 elections result ; Mahama had a vast difference of two hundred thousand (200,000) vote difference in the Zongo polling stations but you will realize that in 2020, that gap was closed by one hundred thousand (100,000) votes- so all those who say the Zongo communities didn’t vote for H.E. Nana Addo in the 2020 elections don’t know what they are saying and I’m ever ready to debate anybody who will challenge these figures”.
“The Zongo communities in Ghana have a history. There was a time in 1992 when you couldn’t wear an NPP shirt in Zongo. It was difficult for the NPP to even get 5 to 8 votes in a Zongo polling station. You can check the 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020 election results and you will realize that it keeps increasing”, he added.
Touching on the achievements of the Akufo-Addo led administration in the Zongo communities, Haruna Futa stressed that “in the Ashanti region, we have built schools, astroturf and computer labs including the school Mr. Mahama attended in Bole. There’s no Zongo community in Ghana that hasn’t benefited from the NPP and you can verify that”.
