Ashanti regional Members of Parliament decided to escort Vice President Bawumia to the dais during last Sunday’s event to put fear in other potential flagbearers, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie has disclosed.
The Member of Parliament for Effiduase/Asokore in an interview on Wontumi TV stated that the Members of Parliament from Ashanti region, didn’t plan on giving Vice President Bawumia a grand entrance to the conference grounds adding that it was a decision that was taken in haste but ended up being well executed.
He continued that the move was not meant to disrespect President Akufo-Addo who according to protocol is the last to be seated on the platform reserved for the dignitaries.
“The President is already famous and an institution. If we as MPs had decided to meet President Akufo-Addo, it wouldn’t have been news”, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie said.
