EPA Promises To Support Inclusion Of Solar To Boost Energy Supply To Kumasi Int. Airport
The Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu has hinted that he will soon push for solar energy as an additional power source for the Kumasi International Airport Project to add to the facility’s design.
According to Dr. Kokofu, even though solar energy generation does not form part of the non-structural agreement but he is impressed with a decision by the contractors to make provision for its inclusion as an additional option in the supply of power.
He also showed appreciation for the speed with which the project is being executed to ensure completion by the end of the year ahead of schedule.
Dr Kokofu made these remarks when he visited the Kumasi Airport Reconstruction project site yesterday as part of his working visit to some key facilities within the Ashanti Region.
The tour took him to both the arrival and departure halls, the hangar and other key areas of the facility.
The EPA Executive Secretary commenced his tour on Tuesday with a stakeholder’s engagement in Kumasi. At that forum, he announced that plans are far advanced to clothe EPA personnel in official uniforms to give them a unique identity.
At the tour of the Kumasi International Airport, the local consultant for the project Mr. Emmanuel Danso, who welcomed the EPA delegation, said the doors of the contractors are always open to all stakeholders for inspection.
He added that the contractors are aware that the project is dear to the heart of both the President and the Asantehene Otumfuor Osei Tutu ll and promised that they will not disappoint them.
