Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) President Abraham Neequaye Quartey has revealed that curses leveled against him by the family of Ghanaian boxer Emmanuel Quartey have been reversed.
He said this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports in the aftermath of the controversial decision to overturn a split decision win for Quartey in his IMAX Boxing League bout against Jerry Lartey.
The aggrieved members of Quartey’s family unleashed a tirade of curses on the GBA President for his alleged role in overturning the decision.
However, President Kotei has stated that the family acted ignorantly and has come back to apologize for the act and overturn the curses.
“I think they have come back to apologize. I saw it on social media where they did that act they went to the same place and they reversed everything. It’s because they don’t understand the game.”
“People have to know it’s not that I took the verdict and the win from the Quartey guy to the Jerry guy. When such things happen, we have a Commissioner for Referees and Judges so quickly we have to use the big eye to score. This is a league, this is not just a promotion…because it’s a league, the procedures are different.”
In a related development, GBA President Kotei talked about plans for his son, Cann Kotei, who is a fledgling pugilist in the featherweight division.
