ECG, NADMO Join Forces to Restore Electricity Following Severe Accra Floods
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a collaborative effort with NADMO to restore power supply in flood-hit parts of Greater Accra following a heavy downpour on Sunday, May 18, 2025, that caused widespread outages and infrastructure disruptions.
The affected communities, which include residential, academic, and commercial zones, were disconnected from the power grid upon NADMO’s request to ensure public safety.
Areas such as Borteyman Stadium, Dome Pillar 2, Christian Village, Legon Hill, Adenta ECG office, and Madina Islamic University are among those impacted.
Residents across these zones have been grappling with darkness and disrupted daily routines as ECG teams assess the damage and wait for clearance from NADMO to begin safe restoration work.
“We understand how difficult this is for our customers,” ECG said in a public notice issued on Monday, May 19.
“But safety is our priority. Once NADMO gives the green light, our teams will work to restore power as quickly as possible.”
In the meantime, ECG is urging customers to report any localised outages, fallen poles, or sagging conductors to the ECG Call Center or via social media platforms for quick intervention.
The storm, which took residents by surprise, left roads flooded, homes submerged, and essential services stalled.
