ECG Extends Weekend Working Hours Due To Vending Challenges

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced an extension of its working hours for this weekend.

The extension is due to the current vending challenge with the prepaid meters experienced across the country.

The various ECG outlets will work from 9 am to 4 pm this weekend instead of their usual closing time at 2 pm on weekends.

ECG has also assured affected persons that a team is working assiduously to rectify the anomaly and ensure smooth service provision.

There have been interruptions in the purchase of electricity credits by customers using both new and old prepaid metres in parts of the country for over four days now.

Some customers in Volta, Takoradi, Tema, Cape Coast, Kasoa, Winneba, Swedru, Koforidua, Nkawkaw and Tafo have been affected.

Following this, the ECG clarified on Wednesday that the anomaly is a result of some technical challenges which are being resolved.

“Affected customers should please note that our engineers are working assiduously to correct the anomaly and restore the system to normalcy.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused by this technical challenge,” the Ashanti SBU appealed in the statement signed by its director, David Asamoah.
