Drake Says He Regrets Talking About His Ex-Girlfriends In His Music
DrakeĀ has a track record for name-dropping his ex-girlfriendsĀ in his music. But it appears the rapper might have some second thoughts about some of those choices.
While chopping it up withĀ Lil YachtyĀ onĀ FUTUREMOODSāsĀ premiere episode ofĀ Moody Conversations, Drake hinted that he feels remorseful about naming drop his ex-girlfriends.
āI heard it the other night. I think that, and sometimes when Iāve said girlsā names in songs, maybe those are the two things that I look back on, and Iām like, āMaybe I coulda done without, like, shitting on people for age or disrupting somebodyās life,āā he said.
āThe lyrics are never with ill intent, but I had somebody tell me one time, āYou know, itās not necessarily what youāre saying about me, itās the fact that you said it,āā Drake added.
He then elaborated on a conversation he had with his ex, saying that she said he does not know how his lyrics can impact her life.
āāYou donāt know who my boyfriend is at the time, or you donāt know what my family knows or doesnāt know. And if you express any form of discontent for me and call me by name in a song, then all of a sudden Iām left to pick up the pieces of my own life that Iāve tried to build up for myself,āā Drizzy said, mimicking their conversation.
āSo Iāve tried my best to stop doing that,ā Drake concluded.Ā āBut I like to be honest in music too, so that oneās a push and pull.ā
