One of the World’s most famous cancer surgeons, Dr Beatrice Wiafe Addai Thursday morning, hosted a team of surgeons on the Lancelot Oncology Commission at her hospital, Peace and Love Hospital (PLH) at Oduom, Kumasi.

The team has been in Ghana to work on the Lancet Oncology Commission report about Cancer in Sub-Saharan Africa and in Accra two days ago they had their biggest gathering to outdoor and talk about the Project.

With interest from the first lady, her Excellency Rebecca Akufo-Addo the team led by Beatrice Wiafe Addai, the Ghanaian Host, plans to explore more ways to eliminate breast cancer especially through the use of technology.

On Thursday, the team after the tour of the Peace and Love Hospital were treated to life saving testimonies by some women and ladies including a 13 year girl who had to undergo surgeries to correct breast cancer disease.

DETAILS:
Taking turns to tell their stories, the ladies said but for the treatment at the PLH hospital, they would have been dead by now.

Some said they discovered their status late and could only save one of their breasts due to the intensity of the disease.

BREAKTHROUGH:
Speaking to the media, Prof Wilfred Ngwa, a Cameroonian inventor said he had invented a system like a tiny drone to deliver care to cancer patients.

The technology, he noted, would first be tested in Ghana when completed and would help to address the incidences of cancers including breast cancer.

HOST AND CANCER SURGEON:
On her part, Dr Mrs Wiafe Addai welcomed the team and commended them for the work they were currently doing to check the rate of cancers in the people of the World especially those in the Sub-Saharan continent.
