The organizer for friends of Bawumia group, Rev. George Opoku Acheampong, has praised the vice President of the republic Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia for his efforts in spearheading public sector digitization in the country which he said is positively impacting the fight against corruption.
According to him, although corruption has been with the country for so long the introduction of the digitalization agenda by Dr. Bawumia has helped to create an inclusive society, fought corruption and enhanced domestic revenue mobilization.
Speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show, Rev. Acheampong acknowledged the role of digitization in tackling corruption and stated that ”the public sector digitalization has significantly improved efficiency and reduced corruption in many government services. It has also improved the cashless system in the country. I was able to sit at the comfort of my home to pay my water bill and that is commendable”.
Ghana has witnessed remarkable digital transformation through a biometric national ID card, digital addressing system, digitization at the ports, passport office, registrar general, the driver and vehicle licensing authority (DVLA), and many other public institutions since the assuming of President Akufo-Addo into office.
Dr. Bawumia has led the digital transformation of the country with a digital structure that has seen the digitization of several aspects of the economy and government services.
