Dr. Bawumia Has Changed The Face Of Politics In Ghana- Awal Mohammed

A communications team member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Awal Mohammed has described Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as a pacesetter and a grassroot candidate.

According to him, Dr. Bawumia has changed the face of Ghana politics since he became a politician in 2008.

He told Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning show on Movement TV that Dr. Bawumia is not an established candidate but grassroot candidate, who started campaigning for his Presidential ambition a long while ago and not just last year, as some people are asserting.

“If you want to become a President, you start from somewhere…Bawumia has been consistent from 2008…when Akufo-Addo selected him as his running mate in 2008, Dr.  Bawumia was a novice, and never knew anything about politics…this is something everybody knows and accepts…However, after four years when he got to understand politics, he changed the face of politics in this country and it’s a fact”, he emphasized.

He asserted that it is only during the tenure of Dr. Bawumia that a Vice President is seen leading a campaign of a political party in Ghana, since the days of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

“For a vice President to speak and it becomes a topic for discussion for two months, it has never happened in this country if not for Bawumia…if you will recall, in 2016, Dr. Tony Aidoo said that the reason for which the NDC lost the 2016 elections was because they didn’t get anybody to match Bawumia”, he said.

He furthered that people from all walks of life who never liked Akufo-Addo because of his contest with Alan in 2008, are now part of Dr. Bawumia’s campaign teams, despite the fact that he’s a vice President to Akufo-Addo.
