Renowned highlife musician, Agya Koo Nimo has shared valuable health advice with fellow highlife artiste Kwabena Kwabena, warning him against taking hard liquor.
During a recent visit to his Kumasi residence by Kwabena and his team to pay their heir respects to the 94-year-old music legend, Agya Koo Nimo stressed on the importance of prioritising kidney health.
“Listen to whatever I say. Why am I 94? The first thing Kwabena, respect our kidneys. Drink a lot of water to clear everything in your kidneys. As for alcohol, you may just take a little,” he said in a video sighted on nydjlive.com.
Agya Koo Nimo shared his personal story, stating that despite occasionally consuming alcohol, he has been diligent in avoiding beverages that could compromise his well-being.
“Me, I would just take a bottle of beer, the bitter one. But I do not take hard liquor. Hard liquor will spoil your voice. Your only gift is your voice. I beg you, Kwabena, take good care of yourself,” he told Kwabena Kwabena.
In a recent appearance on UTV, Kwabena Kwabena revealed that he has made a conscious decision to abstain from substances that could potentially harm his health.
Hence, Agya Koo Nimo’s advice falls in line with his new goals to live a healthy life.
In 2023, the then Chief Executive Officer of Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah, raised concerns over the sharp surge in kidney-related illnesses, revealing that 17% of the Ghanaian population is grappling with kidney issues.
Dr. Ampomah disclosed that their registry indicated around 700 kidney patients who require consistent dialysis treatment at the time.
