Dismiss Hopeson Adorye ; He Is Being Backed By The NDC- Rev Opoku Acheampong Tells NPP Executives

An organizer for friends of Bawumia, Rev. Opoku Acheampong, has requested for the dismissal of Hopeson Adorye following his comment on the Dombos in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) which has been described as tribalistic.

While speaking to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement In The Morning Show Rev. Acheampong said, ‘’Hopeson’s comment was unnecessary. I have been expecting him to apologize but he is only defending himself. Party executives need to call him to order- but in my opinion he should be dismissed. Our Northern brothers make the party- if you read history, you will realize that the party was started by Northerners. The NPP was formally the Northern People’s Party (NPP), and that explains the significant role they play in the NPP”.

”Hopeson Adorye  just wants to destroy the party and return to his root. We all know his background-he was a former member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Everything shows he is being backed by some members of the NDC.  He wanted a position in the NPP but unfortunately for him he did not get- this is why he wants to bring division in the party and then make a U-turn to his root’’, he added.

Concluding, Rev. Opoku Acheampong  stated party executives should be swift in dismissing the NPP Member of Parliament (MP) hopeful for Kpone-Katamanso.

During the walk for Alan Kyeremanteng in Kumasi, Hopeson Adorye made a comment that was interpreted as tribalistic.

He said, “the NPP has a tradition. Our tradition is Busia, Danquah and Dombo. Danquah represents Eastern Region and the bottom (south), Danquah represents Ashanti Region and the Bono areas, while Dombo represents Northern Region. The Dumbo’s are always in the mix and fit as running mates to either a Danquah candidate or a Busia candidate. That tradition must continue”.

In a press released on August 15, the former MP for Kpone-Katamanso wrote,

“Upon reflection, I realize that my statement may either have been misunderstood and offended some patriots, or deliberately turned around by political opponents for their misguided intentions. As much as it is not my nature, it definitely was not my intention to create this misunderstanding. I take full responsibility for my actions and sincerely apologize to all who are offended.”
