Desertion Hits NDC’s Campaign Trail, Kusi Boafo Reveals
Thomas Kusi Boafo, has made a stunning disclosure that, the campaign team of the NDC flagbearer, John Mahama has suffered a massive desertion of its leading members.
“Mr. Mahama has been left alone to do his campaign because members of his campaign team have seen the fruitlessness of his efforts.” He noted
Mr. Kusi Boafo, the CEO of the Public Sector Reforms was speaking on Wontumi TV and Ra”dio in Kumasi on Monday.
He said the former President is himself not sure of his chances in the 2020 elections because “he is yet to disclose the mistakes he made that caused him the presidency in the 2020 elections.”
“He once said that, he made some mistakes that caused him the elections but most Ghanaians who have read in-between the lines know that, Mr. Mahama’s motive of desguises a selfish person.
This is what the former President told a radio audience, “In the period that I’ve been a president, I’ve been a mere mortal; may have made mistakes.”
The former President also described his four year term as a “very challenging one,” adding that, “there are brighter days ahead.”
He also noted that , “the biggest challenge during his four year term “was the issue of unemployment.”
According to Mr. Kusi Boafo, John Mahama has unfinished business to conduct which includes “the winning back of the Nyinahin bauxite concession which his brother Ibrahim lost in a fierce legal battle.”
He said the, former President is bitter about the loss of the Nyinahin bauxite to his brother and should he be lucky to be given another four year term, “John Mahama will not waste time at all to bulldoze his way through to have it and claim it for Ibrahim.”
Another reason for Mr. Mahama’s desperation to come back “is to collapse the free Senior High School education programme.
“The free SHS will forever stand in the name of the NPP so if he gets the opportunity to win back power, he would immediately create the impression that, he is reviewing it and “that will be the end of it.”
Mr. Boafo told the host of the programme, Oheneba Nana Asiedu that, he had heard the former President give an assurance to all those whose deposits with the collapsed banks are yet to be refunded that, he will give back their monies within the first one year of his administration if he should be voted for in the next elections to come back to power.
The financial accounting expert sees this as a hoax,”These are all lies. He is only hoodwinking them. Let him get the power and they will see.” He cautioned
Meanwhile, Mr. Kusi Boafo has assured the depositors that, the government is determined to refund their monies by the end if September.
He said as a result of the reform of the banking sector, the government’s financial burden suddenly shot up to total of 21.6 billion Ghana Cedis which was the total amount of money to refund to depositors when some banks were made to fold up.
But he gave the assurance that ,the government has been doing its best to refund the money in installments.
“In the first installment, the government paid 13.1 billion Ghana cedis to depositors. Then later, 5 billion Ghanba cedis. Now there is 3.6 billion Ghana cedis outstanding which will all be paid by the end of the next month.” He assured.
According to Mr. Kusi Boafo, the government has instituted drastic measures to ensure that nobody can just open a bank or a savings and loans entity without adhering to the existing strict rules and regulations.
“We are no longer in the NDC era where banks could be established indiscriminately. Now without a Bank of Ghana’s license or approval you cannot start a financial institution anywhere in the country.” He cautioned
