Having fully done my introspection and necessary consultation, I Alhaji Mohammed Murtala Ibrahim, wish to declare my intention to contest the *Upper East Regional chairmanship of the great New Patriotic Party once nominations are open.
This decision was arrived at after a sober reflection and broad consultation with stakeholders of the elephant fraternity.
The party’s hierarchy, including the grassroots of our party both within and outside have variously reached out, and I wish to by this solemn statement, respond and thus, make myself available to provide the august leadership that they deserve.
I am on this note appealing to party elders, patrons ,constituency executives the rank and file of the party to consider me back, so that together, we can work to regain our lost glory.
I worked assiduously hard with the help of the Almighty and with little resources in 2016 secured the unprecedented record of three seats from the NDC in the region yet, the respected delegates of the 2018 congress decided that, I should rest for a while. Unfortunately, the current leadership have failed to at least, maintain the status qou and have drowned our gains as a party. The situation at hand lends a serious challenge to us as a region and deserving of a strategic and experience hand to turn things around.
I take solace in the saying of the venerable Martin Luther King Junior that, ”The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands at a time of comfort and convenience but where he stands at a time of change and controversy“. Thus, I am determined to provide the needed leadership that the party desires now more than ever to break the eight. I am determined to sacrifice my all in order to achieve the aspirations of the party in the region with honesty and integrity.
I will also use this opportunity to call on all aspirants to employ campaign strategies that will enhance the goodwill of the party and not those that has the tendency to divide our ranks and thereby make us vulnerable in the eyes of voting public. Let’s see ourselves as one family with one common goal.
