Deal With Rex Omar Over His Careless Remarks- Popular NPP Sympathizer Charges The Police
Popular NPP sympathizer, Nana Oteatuoso Kokoben II, has descended heavily on Rex Omar, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), following his unguarded statement that could incite the public to resort to violence in disputing the elections.
In a face book comment, Rex Omar wrote: “nobody will go to court, we will settle every matter on the street.”
But the comment has generated a lot of controversy with a section of Ghanaians urging the national security to treat it as a case of creating fear and panic and deal decisively with him.
“The police should not deal leniently with Rex Omar over the threatening statement . They have to call him to order as the law requires.” Nana blurted out.
Nana Oteatuoso affirmed that, if the Security agencies fail to act he, and for that matter, the NPP will descend on the veteran musician.
“If Rex Omar has beaten the war drum and nobody is calling him to order, we’ll also dance to the tune by coming out with a more threatening response.” He said on Wontumi Radio and TV’s Morning Show on Tuesday.
Nana Oteatuoso cautioned that, the NPP is ready to cut Rex Omar to size, stressing that, it’s becoming increasingly unbearable to ignore such lose talks, careless and divisive remarks which are taken for granted even though the hidden intention of those who utter them is to “create unnecessary tension in the country.”
“To those nation wreckers, my advice is If their motive is to stick to pettiness to have their way we would muster our might which far surpasses theirs to run over them.” He said
Nana Oteatuoso stressed that, “we are not cowards except that we have restrained ourselves to descend on our opponents because as law abiding citizens we feel committed to do what is in the best interest of Ghanaians first and not to torment our opponents.”
Meanwhile, reacting to Rex Omar’s threatening remarks on the same programme on Wontumi Radio/TV Morning Show, the Director General in-charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, COP Ken Yeboah who was called into the programme said that, “the Police are yet to have a first hand knowledge of the statement by the veteran musician and would want those privy to it to forward it to them.
COP Yeboah added that, their door s are opened to anybody who may wish to furnish them with the comment by Rex Omar.
On hearing this, the NPP sympathizer exploded cautioning that, the Police should act professionally by working through its intelligence gathering networks to monitor such dangerous remarks that can destabilize the country.
“If Ken Yeboah is calling on us to furnish him with the statement , we won’t. When the country collapses, it will affect him too.” He cautioned.
He said that, if Rex Omar’s statement had come from a person like Chairman Wontumi he would have been arrested by now
According to Nana Oteatuoso, the 2020 elections is not about threatening words but what one can do to bring about human development and improves lives.
“Its everybody exclusive right to decide for themselves who to vote for or the party to support. For me I will not vote for John Mahama because his policies are not good. That’s my personal decision.” He told Oheneba Nana Asiedu, host of the programme
