The Ashanti regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is calling on the Inspector General of Police not to have preferential treatment for John Mahama over his “treasonable” do-or-die comment.
Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi in an interview on Wontumi TV, described John Mahama as a failed Presidential candidate who is not above the likes of Kofi Akpaloo, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings and other presidential candidates who contested the 2020 elections.
According to him, if Kofi Akpaloo had made a similar comment and called for a do-or-die approach towards the 2024 elections, the Police would have swiftly intervened and arrested him for a treasonable comment.
Former President John Mahama after receiving heavy backlash has attempted to reduce the weight of his do-or-die comment to an idiomatic expression but Chairman Wontumi explained that his comment has the potential to incite some people in the NDC to create confusion during an election.
