Cuscus Games End On High Note As Agogo South Steals Trophy Home
Players from the Agogo South table tennis team outclassed and outplayed others drawn from the other electoral areas in Asokwa.
It was therefore not surprising that they took home the winners’ trophy at the end of the three day games at the Edward Osei Kwaku Youth Center in Ahinsan-Estate.
The games dubbed ‘CUSCUS GAMES’ drew a lot of enthusiasm from residents and participants on the second day and it was not surprising that at the semi-final games a large crowd attended to it as well as the final matches.
But in the end, Agogo South took home the winners’ trophy and cash amount of GHC 1500.00, while Asokwa Extension took home the runners-up prize of GHC 1000.00 with Gyinyase taking home the second runners-up fee of GHC700.00 as Ahinsan finished fourth picking a consolation prize of GHC 500.00.
PERSONALITIES:
Perhaps what brought the excitement to the games was the appearance of some personalities in Asokwa whose political clouts bring crowds anytime they move.
First to make an appearance on the first day of the games was the calm and inspiring Chief Executive Officer at the Youth Employment Agency, Lawyer Justin Koduah Frimpong, who played a game with the famous assemblyman for Ahinsan-Estate, Nana Yaw Wiredu.
The Third and final day had the Chairman of the constituency, Benjamin Fosu Nkrumah as well as the notable and calm first Vice-Chairman, Edmund Kyei making an appearance as well as making presentations to the award winners including the supply of nose masks to the persons present at the games.
Earlier, Papa Yaw Asare Bediako John, Felix Appiah and Frank Bosompim Danso, Asokwa NPP constituency secretary, treasurer and youth organizer respectively also passed through the games.
Dr Nana Yaw Boakye, a medical practitioner at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and an MP hopeful in Asokwa also made an appearance on the final day of the games
ORGANIZER:
Speaking with excitement after the games, Mr Eric Adu Fosu, sponsor and organizer of the games thanked the participating teams as well as the electoral area coordinators and the respective assemblymen in Asokwa for showing enthusiasm in the games.
He noted that the excitement the games had generated would encourage many others to want to organize the same to help the party.
Mr Fosu, popularly called Cuscus also said such exercise will help the constituency unearth more talents and make them available to the Youth and Sports Ministry.
Oscar Anane, a member of the organizing committee, a mathematics tutor and sports presenter at Angel fm praised the spirit of competition displayed by the teams and prayed that more of such indoor games are organized in the constituency
