The Ashanti regional Chairman, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, is predicting that things could get worse with global economies if the tension between China and Taiwan, drags on.
In an interview on Wontumi radio, the media mogul recalled that “I was the first person to say that the Russia-Ukraine war was going to affect us and some political scientists were laughing at me, but now even when the President of USA speaks, he quotes me.”
The NPP chairman popularly known as Chairman Wontumi insisted that just like the war between Russia and Ukraine is having an effect on global economies, the brewing tension between China and Taiwan could compound the problem.
He quipped that if nothing is done to water down the tension, it could degenerate into a conflict that would harm world trade.
“The Taiwan and China issue can affect us so all Christians should be praying fervently or else, things would be difficult be December”, Chairman Wontumi said.
China Taiwan Tensions Highlights
About 10 Chinese and Taiwanese navy boats continued to stay close to the median line of the Taiwan Strait on Sunday morning, a source told Reuters. Chinese boats repeatedly “pressed” into the unofficial buffer, while Taiwan’s navy stayed close-by to monitor the movements.
Meanwhile, the White House said that China’s actions in and around the Taiwan Strait were provocative and irresponsible after Taiwan officials said Chinese aircraft and warships rehearsed an attack on the island. “These activities are a significant escalation in China’s efforts to change the status quo. They are provocative, irresponsible, and raise the risk of miscalculation,” a White House spokesperson said.
