Chess Foundation Commits To More Development Projects In Ghana.

 

Chess Foundation, an international non-governmental organisation (NGO) whose idea is to mobilise people from the diaspora to develop Ghana has indicated its desire to do more projects in rural communities of the country.

Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper from her base in the United States of America (USA), 1Mama Africa, founder of Chess Foundation said her outfit would want to do more to help the needy in Ghanaian communities.

Having been crowned Development Queen in two separate towns in Ghana, Akim Kwamang and Kpando Konda as Nana Afia Adorkor and Nana Afiwa Dunyo 1 respectively, the Chess Foundation founder says more towns in the country would benefit from her projects when she returns in June to celebrate her 5th anniversary as Development Queen for Kpando Konda.

She also noted her delight that the people of the Akpini Traditional Area of Kpando after several decades have had a paramount Chief replacing the late Torgbuiga Dagadu.

Speaking more about the projects undertaken by the Chess Foundation in Kpando, Christopher Mawuli, spokesperson for the NGO in Kpando said the outfit has continuously supported children of school going age with uniforms and funds to aid their education.

Special education classes are organised for the children in the Kpando  Konda community to inculcate into them the habit if reading.

Beads making and basket weaving, are two arts the spokesperson noted have also been taught the children especially the girls in the community.

Emmanuel Yaw Yeboah, spokesperson for Chess Foundation in Ashanti Region also mentioned that the outfit had carried out paintings of classroom blocks as well as  training programs in bead making and basket weaving for school children in communities in Ashanti.

Caves and places of historical facts across the country have also been decorated by Chess Foundation.

APPEAL:
1Mama Africa appealed to all persons with African descent, especially Ghanaians in the diaspora to return to help develop the country.

She noted that having known their roots, it was important that they contribute to the development of same.

Having set up the Chess Foundation in Kumasi 8 years ago, 1Mama Africa said she had been able to use same to contribute to the development of many communities including Akim Kwamang and Kpando Konda.

“Support for the needy in the Ghanaian society should be passion for all those who can trace their roots to the most peaceful country on the planet and repatriate their wealth to develop same”, 1Mama Africa stated.
