Chaos In Kpandai: Youth Attack Herdsmen, 1 In Serious Condition

There has been escalation of tension between some youth and herdsmen in Kpandai in the Northern Region.

This follows a dreaded attack on a resident of Kanyinkpa a suburb of Kpandai by three men believed to be herdsmen.

Reports have it that, at about 7:00pm on Saturday July 6, 2024, the victim was commuting from his village; Kanyinkpa to Kpandai where he now resides with his nuclear family on a motorbike, but halfway through the journey, he was ambushed by three men.

The men demanded his motorbike, but the victim identified as thirty-five-year-old Kwadwo Nampar declined, forcing the criminals to inflict sharp machete wounds on him.

The victim sustained deep cut wounds on the skull, multiple cuts on the right foot and similar cuts on the left hand. The attack also left fracture in his right arm and shoulder.

The criminal trio then succeeded in bolting with the victim’s motorbike leaving him in a pool of cold blood.

However, in the process of the trio escaping with the stolen bike, they crashed into a tree in a nearby residence.

The sound that emanated from the crash attracted some residents to the scene which forced the criminal gang to abandon the motorcycle and run into the bush.

Later, some good Samaritans plying the stretch found the victim panting for breath. They then rushed him to the Tamale teaching hospital where he is now responding to treatment.

3news sources in Kpandai further revealed that Kwadwo Nampar while on their way to the Tamale Teaching Hospital told the people that his attackers were herdsmen.

The residents then stormed homes of Fulani men in Kpandai to carryout reprisal attack on them. Their cattle are being targeted and killed in the process.

The Northern Regional Police Commander visited the community to calm tempers while investigation goes on. However, gory pictures of the victim accompanied by voice note have gone viral.

The voice note warns residents of Kpandai to be careful with their movements in the areas since the Fulani can initiate an attack on them. The residents now live in fear.

The Kpandai District Security Council led by the District Chief Executive, Emmanuel Attah Tatablata is working to de-escalate the tension in the area.

It is also to intensify monitoring in adjoining communities for prompt intelligence for action.
