Presiding Member at the Kwadaso Constituency, Ernest Frimpong, has expressed deep concerns over the chaotic incident that marred the Council of State election on February 11.
Speaking on Wontumi’s morning show in Kumasi, Frimpong alleged that the chaos was a deliberate act orchestrated by some NDC individuals to disrupt the electoral process.
According to Frimpong, the chaos erupted because the NDC members knew that Nana Nkansa Boadu had a strong chance of winning, and therefore, they sought to create confusion to prompt the Electoral Commission (EC) to order a re-run. Frimpong also revealed that a regional commander was present during the incident but failed to intervene, even as police officers were being assaulted.
“It was shocking to see the regional commander standing by and doing nothing while the police officers were being attacked. It was clear that the chaos was pre-planned, and the presence of the regional commander did little to quell the violence,”Frimpong said.
Frimpong assured that the coordinating directors would no longer be tolerated, and that his constituents would not stand idly by while the electoral process was being manipulated.
He emphasized that the chaos was not an isolated incident but rather a pre-planned act designed to undermine the integrity of the election.
