Chairman Wontumi Praises President Akufo-Addo For Marking 66th Independence Day Celebration At Ho

The Ashanti regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has congratulated President Akufo-Addo’s government for marking this years’ 66th Independence Day at Adaklu in the Volta region.

The NPP Chairman popularly known as Chairman Wontumi told Wontumionline.com that it was remarkable for the administration of President Akufo-Addo to walk the celebration round the country noting that it was a humble way of ensuring every region in Ghana enjoys the benefit the celebration brings.

He was in awe that the celebration in Volta region lived up to expectation and was colorful and praised the people of the region for fully participating in the event.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Our Unity, Our Strength, Our Purpose”.

During the President’s speech, he stated that  this year’s celebration should imbue in us the constant desire to seek for the progress, prosperity and development of Ghana, no matter the circumstances confronting us.

The 4th Republic, according to him represents the longest period of stable constitutional governance in our history.

He therefore urged Ghanaians to be united in the goal of protecting it, for it is only its free, democratic form of governance and the intelligent management of the economy that will bring the upliftment Ghanaians want and deserve.

“We cannot allow those who seek to divide us along the lines of ethnicity or religion to succeed. Let us deepen the cohesion that exists amongst us, and let us wear, with pride, the badge of being called Ghanaian. There is no better  homage we can pay to the memories of all those who fought to free us from the shackles of colonialism and imperialism, than to dedicate this 66th independence anniversary to working even harder for the unity, strength and purpose of our dear Ghana”, President Akufo-Addo said.
